In the Easter holiday Kafaalo visited the Netherlands. This tour was meant as a member recruiting, fundraising and at the same time a chance to get the message of Kafaalo out to the public. The trip started on 07th of April and was ended 09th of the same month. During the stay, Kafaalo visited Amsterdam and Tilburg. Tilburg is regarded as the 7th or 8th largest city in the Netherlands and is 120 km from Amsterdam.

Somali community in Tilburg

Tilburg was the first city on the tour. When Kafaalo arrived at Tilburg on the 7th of april, they were greeted warmly by representatives of the community. The city had a big Somali community living there in the past but most of these citizens have moved now. The number of Somalis living in Tilburg is estimated to be around 1500. This small community showed great unity and brotherhood which was really heartfelt. They were also very giving when it came to the fundraising itself.

Somali community in Amsterdam

Kafaalo reached Amsterdam 08th of april which was on a Sunday. In Amsterdam, Kafaalo visited SOMVOA, a Somali organization which works for the needs of the Somali community in Amsterdam and the surrounding areas. Among the things which SOMVOA does for the community is job recruitment and management of the local mosque amongst others.

Achievements on the tour

In Tilburg the elders, the youth, men, women received Kafaalo and its’ message with open arms. Kafaalo presented a lecture which was given by Sh. Mohamed Idris, live via the Internet from Holy Mecca. After that Kafaalo made a presentation which gave an insight into the work of Kafaalo and its’ projects such as the Orphan sponsorship.

The two communities of Amsterdam and Tilburg were very much people who loved doing humanitarian acts and open to the projects which Kafaalo presented to them. Many of these people became Kafaalo member and thus started sponsoring orphans. These communities showed tremendous willingness to support their native country Somalia.
